Kingdom Come

kingdom-come

“In this manner, therefore, pray: …….Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.. (Mat 6:10 NKJ)

Understanding the kingdom is key to understanding this part of prayer.  As a Christian we need to remember that we are, “ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” (2Co 5:20 NKJ) As such then our prayer time should be to reconcile what we see or hear here on earth with the kingdom of heaven.  To be effective in this manner it is important that we don’t allow ourselves to conform to the world but be transformed, and that happens by allowing the Word to renew our minds. (Rom 12:2)

“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.” (2Co 5:18 NKJ) That ministry of reconciliation then comes through our interaction with the world around us and how we respond to issues of poverty, war, finance, and the environment, just to name a few.  We first reconcile our thinking to bring it in line with the Word bring and then through pray we petition our Father to bring about change, bringing the heavenly model to bare here on earth.  The key to its success is our wiliness to be a clear channel through which God can move and not restrict the flow of God’s working because we have our own agendas.
