Genesis 41:25-43 Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do: . . . . . 38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. “You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him over all the land of Egypt.
When we think of the Sprit of God, we think of power (Acts 1:8), but the Holy Spirit has more traits than just power. Revelation 5:6 refers to the Lamb of God has having seven Spirits. “in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.” Those seven Spirits are in fact seven traits or attributes of the Holy Spirit, and they are listed in Isaiah 11:1-3 “There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. His delight is in the fear of the LORD, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears.”
Joseph had the Spirit of wisdom and understanding; we would refer to these today as having spiritual gifts. What godly traits do you have that would cause those around you to stand up and take notice? In Josephs case, the anointing wasn’t apparent until he was in prison and I Pharaoh’s house.
