The Fullness of God

space“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. (Mat 6:9-13 NKJ)

“If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds. (Matt 6:25-29. MSG)

The writer to Hebrews tells us, “In the past, God spoke through the prophets to our ancestors in many times and many ways. In these final days, though, he spoke to us through a Son. (Heb 1:1-2 CEB) In the past, God spoke to a society and a people that were patriarchal in their culture, and their religion. So, it is not surprising that when the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, he gave them an accepted model. Today, we live in a society that is working towards true equality, and we need to understand that God is not just ‘Father.’ In fact, Genesis tells us, “God created humanity in God’s own image, in the divine image God created them, male and female God created them. (Gen 1:27 CEB) So the divine image is both masculine and feminine.

I say all that because we need to realize that God who is holy, awesome, creator of the heavens and the earth, loves you, protects and provides for you and desires to nurture you. Whatever you have need of today or this week, God has already made plans and provision for you. The storms of life may try and sink you, but God has made way for you to walk on water.  Just fix your focus on God.
