“But now your kingdom shall not continue. The LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.” (1Sa 13:14 NKJ)
The second half of this story is a young boy caring for his father’s sheep, playing his favorite instrument, writing a few songs, and occasionally having to fend off the occasional wild animal that tried to attack the sheep. A trait that would serve him well, but right now, he was a long way from the king’s palace. David would later write, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. (Psa 139:13-16 NKJ)
Getting from where you are to where God wants you can be a journey, but hold on, if God has spoken it, it will happen.
